Mark T. Coulter, J.D.
Mark T. Coulter is an experienced Pittsburgh attorney with an extensive record of success solving his clients’ legal issues, with a focus of interest in Estate Planning and Elder Law issues. In over two decades as an attorney in the Monroeville/Pittsburgh area, he has represented thousands of clients in dozens of states across the country in need of assistance with their legal problems. He currently serves as the Director of the Estate Planning Centers, at The Coulter Law Offices LLC, based in Monroeville, PA and his primary focus is to help families in Southwestern Pennsylvania avoid probate, protect their assets, and provide for the security of their loved ones with a well-crafted estate plan. Probate services for estates and executors are certainly available to help families facing the probate process under a Will following the death of a loved one. If a family prepared in advance with a trust, he can assist the family with trust administration, whether simple or complex. In addition to providing timely and high quality legal services, Mr. Coulter is dedicated to educating local families and conducts seminars for the Pittsburgh community about important estate planning issues and pitfalls to avoid.
Education
Mr. Coulter received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988, and earned his Juris Doctor degree with honors from the Duquesne University School of Law in 1993, with Honors. Mr. Coulter was selected as a published member of the Duquesne Law Review, an honor reserved for legal scholars performing at the highest level. He continues to take classes every year to remain up to date with the latest legal developments and strategies for his clients.
Experience
Mr. Coulter was granted admission to the legal bar of multiple states, including Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, Florida, and Indiana. Currently, Mr. Coulter limits his practice to clients here in Pennsylvania, and he no longer maintains the foreign licensures. Mr. Coulter was honored to be granted admission to the esteemed Bar of the United States Supreme Court in 2002. He has also been admitted to practice before The United States Courts of Appeals, the last level of appeal before the United States Supreme Court, covering 14 states. His Federal Court practice also included representing clients before the federal District Court Judges in many jurisdictions.
Recognition
Mr. Coulter was granted Life Membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, based upon his substantial achievements on behalf of his clients. The courts have recognized his ability, even to the point appointing him to represent large groups of individuals with legal issues to be resolved. He was inducted as a Life Member of the National Registry of Who’s Who in 2001. Mr. Coulter was also selected to the prestigious SuperLawyers national list for 2021, a peer-selected group consisting of the top 5% of attorneys.
Publication
Mr. Coulter is the author of The Estate Planning Companion; A Practical Guide To Your Estate Plan (Borders Publishing 2009), conveniently available at BarnesandNoble.com, Amazon.com and most other book retailers online. This book shows you a method to approach estate planning in order to manage your assets in life and thereafter, while bringing peace of mind to you and your family. Intended to bridge the communication gap between lawyers and their clients, The Estate Planning Companion explains in straightforward language a full range of topics every responsible adult should consider about their life, assets and affairs. His book includes discussions of Living Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Letters of Instruction, Wills, Trusts, Life Insurance, Living Wills, Long Term Care Insurance, Medicaid nursing home planning, Probate and more.
Personal
Mr. Coulter has been married for over 25 years, with 6 children. He and his family live in Monroeville Pennsylvania, where he enjoys spending time with his family, researching, writing and attempting to carry his share of the housework. He is a lifelong resident of the Pittsburgh area, having been raised in Wexford before moving to Monroeville to raise his family.

Colin B. May, J.D.
As a partner with the Estate Planning Centers at the Coulter Law Offices, LLC, Colin focuses on Estate Planning and Elder Law issues. He began as an associate with the firm after completing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Dale M. Fouse of the Beaver County Court of Common Pleas and has worked as an attorney in the areas of oil and gas rights, federal tax, and retirement and health plan compliance. With the firm, he works to craft estate plans that meet family needs with an emphasis on issues unique to the region of Southwestern Pennsylvania. In addition to estate planning, he is available to assist clients with matters of probate, trust funding and estate administration. Along with Mr. Coulter, he is committed to educating local families on estate planning issues and conducts seminars around Pittsburgh.
Colin serves as a board member of the charitable Monroeville Foundation which provides services and programming to the local community. He is also a member of the Pittsburgh Estate Planning Council, the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) Probate and Trust Section and Elder Law Committee.
Education and Honors
Colin received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Clarion University in 2012, and earned his Juris Doctor degree with high honors from the Duquesne University School of Law in 2015. Colin served as a Production Editor for the Duquesne Law Review, a distinction for high performing legal scholars, and he is the recipient of two CALI Awards for Federal Income Taxation and Constitutional Law. He was granted admission to the Pennsylvania bar in 2015, and continues to remain up to date with state-of-the-art techniques through continuing education courses for estate planning professionals. Colin was also selected to the prestigious SuperLawyers Rising Starts national list for 2021, a peer-selected group consisting of the top 2.5% of eligible attorneys.
Personal
Colin lives in Pittsburgh with his wife, Brianna, his baby girl, Billie, and their dog, Bobbi. In his free time Colin enjoys spending time outdoors, playing guitar, and writing. He was born and raised in Monroeville, Pennsylvania and remains close with his family there.

Anne Sweeney McGrath, J.D.
EducationAnne Sweeney McGrath graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies in 2000. Anne served as the Vice President of the Delta Phi Epsilon, with a vision to empower women to engage in a lifetime of leadership and service. After graduation, Mrs. McGrath moved to New York City where she earned her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School in 2004. At NYLS, Anne was active in the Irish Law Students Association, which provided her with insight into this vibrant local community. She continues her constant mission to remain on top of developing legal issues through legal conferences, seminars, and courses every year. Anne is admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and is a member of the Probate and Trust Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
ExperienceSince returning to her roots in the Pittsburgh area in 2004, Anne’s legal practice involves estate planning and administration for local families, as well as her 15 years of service as Municipal Solicitor representing Township, Boroughs and Home Rule Charter Municipalities in Allegheny, Beaver and Butler Counties.
Through the Estate Planning Centers, Anne has been able to focus her practice on helping individuals and families identify estate planning concerns and risks, developing comprehensive solutions using a variety of modern estate planning strategies, and counseling families as they confront the problems that arise during periods of illness, incapacity and death.
As a parent of a loving child with special needs, Anne has a unique eye for identifying and resolving opportunities and challenges for growth and security facing local families.
PersonalAnne and her husband Neal were married in 2011 and have 3 young children. Anne and her family are residents of Ben Avon Borough in the North Boroughs of Pittsburgh, where they enjoy spending time with their large extended family and traveling with the children.

Sarah Miller
Sarah is a Paralegal at the Estate Planning Centers at Coulter & May, PC. With several years of experience in Estate Planning and Elder Law, she provides support to the firm’s attorneys and clients during the estate planning, trust funding, and estate administration processes. Sarah administers great attention to detail and prides herself on being able to meet and exceed client satisfaction.

Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts degree with highest honors from Clarion University in 2016. Her senior year, she was awarded the Gilbert Hill Award for graduating as top student in her degree program.
Personal
Sarah was born and raised in Clarion, now living in Murrysville with her husband and beloved cat. In her free time, Sarah enjoys antiquing, board games, and working in her backyard.

Jacob Fabian, J.D.
Jake Fabian is an Associate with the Estate Planning Centers at Coulter & May, P.C. His journey in the legal field began with a two year legal clerkship at the firm while attending law school, where he developed his passion for estate planning and elder law. Jake is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of estate planning, leveraging his strong legal background, academic excellence, and commitment to serving the community.
Education and Honors
Jake earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2023. During his time at Pitt Law, he enhanced his passion for estate planning and his commitment to community service by working with the law school’s Elder Law Clinic, providing pro bono legal and estate planning services to many low-income older adults. In addition, Jake has completed numerous legal education seminars and courses to develop his command of estate planning and administration. Prior to law school, Jake graduated Summa Cum Laude from Washington & Jefferson College, receiving accolades such as the James Clyde McGregor Prize in Political Science and the Walter Hudson Baker Prize in Economics for his outstanding performance in both fields.
Personal
Beyond his professional and academic achievements, Jake demonstrated his commitment to leadership and citizenship in the local community by earning the rank of Eagle Scout as a member of Troop 211 in Delmont, PA. Jake is also an active member of fraternal organizations, including Delta Tau Delta and Alpha Phi Omega, which have reinforced his enthusiasm community engagement. Jake enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their mischievous cats, doing battle on the chessboard, and passionately rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers in years both good and bad.

Taylor J. Johns, J.D.
Education
Taylor Johns earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Westminster College as part of a 3+3 pre-professional program that led her to the Duquesne University School of Law where she received her Juris Doctor.
Experience
After her admission to the Pennsylvania Bar, Taylor began practicing law in Mercer County, PA, where she focused on estate planning and estate administration in addition to gaining experience in the areas of real estate, litigation, and business. Taylor then moved to Monroeville where continues to craft estate plans and guide families through the estate and trust administration process as an associate attorney here at the Estate Planning Centers at Coulter & May, PC.
Personal
When Taylor is not in the office, she loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and mini golden doodle, Warby. She also enjoys to cook and bake, golf, travel, and endeavors to keep her house plants alive.

Hope Demont
Hope is the Client Care Coordinator and Assistant to the Paralegal at the Estate Planning Centers at Coulter & May, P.C.. She has rapidly expanded her skillset to support the attorney and paralegal services for all of our clients. Hope enjoys being able to help our clients with whatever they need whether that be scheduling/rescheduling, relaying messages to our attorneys and paralegal, or answering general questions.
Education and Honors
Hope is finishing her bachelor’s degree program, having received most of her education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Criminology/Pre-Law. Once finishing her degree, Hope plans on going to Law School to further her education in the field of Law.Personal
Hope grew up in Murrysville and has lived in the Monroeville/Pittsburgh area her whole life. She has three amazing younger siblings, one of which whom lives with her. Hope likes to cook for her family and loved ones, is a vigorous Steelers/Pittsburgh sports fan and loves to watch her teams with her boyfriend and friends whenever the teams play.

Fernando Soriano
Fernando Soriano is a Paralegal with the Estate Planning Centers at Coulter & May, P.C. In his previous role as a Paralegal, Fernando worked predominantly in Civil and Criminal Litigation, where he helped provide peace of mind to clients as they navigated personal hardships and uncertainty whether that related to debt or criminal charges. Now, working with the Estate Planning Centers, he brings a unique perspective, insight, and experience to inform his work in Estate Planning and Elder Law. Fernando strives to work collaboratively with the team to provide peace of mind through exemplary client service and to continuously innovate to improve whenever and wherever possible.
Education and Honors
Fernando received a Bachelor of Science degree from Chatham University, with a major in Biology, focusing on Environmental Science and Botany, and a minor in Business, with an emphasis on Nonprofit Administration. He also has a passion for community service and advocacy work, having completed over 2000 volunteer hours through AmeriCorps with both local nonprofits and government organizations alike. While with AmeriCorps, Fernando worked with the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh to promote digital equity for residents in public housing, providing the tools, access, and training needed to succeed and thrive in today’s digital world. He also worked with the Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship, assisting with grant writing to fund an outdoor learning space during the COVID-19 pandemic and offering recommendations to the board for adopting new curricula. In his second year with AmeriCorps, Fernando worked with the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Innovation and Performance, where he helped to facilitate its business incubator program, PGH Lab. His responsibilities included writing articles, newsletters, coordinating with businesses, and assisting in the creation of a website designed to help new and prospective business owners start and run a business or partner with the City of Pittsburgh to test their product or service. In recognition of his contributions, Fernando received awards for his efforts to innovate and promote equity and inclusion within the nonprofit sector and beyond.
Personal
Fernando was born in Virginia Beach and moved to Delmont, Pennsylvania, at the start of middle school. He now resides in Monroeville with his partner, Tortellini the Tortoise, and his cats Calypso, Jupiter, and Ash. In his free time, Fernando enjoys cooking new dishes, reading, playing games with friends, and visiting museums and nature spots alike.
