Christopher L. Harkins, Esq.

Shareholder

Chris is a shareholder of the firm and an attorney with more than a decade of experience advising clients in estate planning, estate administration, elder law, and long-term care planning, including Medicaid planning.

Before joining May, Johns and Harkins, Chris owned Harkins Elder Law, where he helped families protect their assets and navigate the financial challenges of nursing home and long-term care costs. He also previously served as an attorney in the Wealth Protection Group of a larger firm, focusing on estate planning and administration for high-net-worth and multi-million-dollar estates.

Chris’s practice focuses primarily on estate planning, estate administration, elder law, and long-term care planning, along with related matters involving special needs planning, small businesses, real estate, oil and gas interests, and inheritance and estate tax considerations.

Chris believes effective planning starts with understanding each client’s goals, concerns, and family circumstances. He works closely with clients to explain their options, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different strategies, and develop plans tailored to their individual needs.

Chris was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 2013. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law and his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

Chris lives in Lower Burrell with his wife, daughter, and son. Outside the office, when his children’s activities allow, he enjoys practicing jiu-jitsu, watching sports — especially NCAA wrestling — smoking meat, and spending time outdoors.
